Crystal Navajo Rug: C. 1920s-1930s: 86″ X 52″: C. 1920s-1930s: BEW 381

Circa 1920s to 1930s J.B. Moore Crystal Navajo rug. Nice homespun colors, including salt and pepper grey, a reddish color that could be brazilwood, and brown colors which are typical of the Crystal Trading Post. This Navajo weaving is in almost excellent condition, showing just minor ethnographic wear. The row of white warp visible is likely from the construction process. Often times the weavers tie the warps down to get the surface closer and easier to work on. Every once in a while, they might break a warp or two and repair it as they go.
